As educators we can be too quick to place all responsibility
for our students' academic success on them alone. The problem is that there are
so many other influences that may be completely beyond their control. We must
recognize this and give them the tools they need to overcome these obstacles as
best as they can. This is NOT a "quick fix" and for that reason,
results are difficult to measure during our time with them. See the following article
