You never know how your smile, a kind word, or a simple wave might impact someone. An old friend told me this evening he was sorry he didn't see me waving at him this morning, but his daughter pointed it out to him after we passed by each other. He approached me this evening to apologize and say hi. We had a great visit for about 20 minutes...the longest visit we have had in years, but I didn't have the heart to tell him I didn't wave at him...didn't even see him this morning. The impact this simple wave (again, didn't even happen) had was far more powerful than I would have ever expected. I will need to do a better job of keeping my head up and be more intentful in noticing others so I don't miss any more opportunities to offer a friendly smile or wave.
