Mom Learns Lesson About Stereotypes

This is a great story about how one mother learned a lesson about stereotypes after taking her young daughter to a skate park.  The stereotypes people have of our youth are often wrong.  We talked in REACH today about how important it is to NOT live by those stereotypes and learn to be ourselves.  Teenagers CAN be compassionate!  This story is a great example of how one young man helped a young girl safely learn a new skill despite how his friends reacted to it.  He made her comfortable while sharing his love of skating with her, and she learned that not all teenage boys are trouble.  He created a memory for her!  We are trying to teach our students that, no matter who they are, they too have the power to be a positive influence and to create memories for others.
